Dr. Thomas specializes in sixteenth and seventeenth century British literature, with an emphasis on drama. While she enjoys teaching Shakespeare at the College, she also is a great supporter of other Renaissance playwrights, such as Thomas Middleton, John Webster, and Christopher Marlowe. Most often, her classes and scholarly work employ the frameworks of social and cultural historicism, as well as gender and sexuality studies. Her current research projects include studying the political and literary import of poisoning in the Renaissance and graphic representations of Shakespeare's work in modern popular culture.
